Please Help Me Before I Cry and Fail

Intro

Hi I’m Jessica Gover and I am a fourth year marketing student at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I promise I don’t cry all the time, just on days that end in the letter “y”. But really, if I were to pick a life motto, I would say that is is ” I am here for a good time, not a long time”.  For me that means spending time doing the things I love. Not to mention bringing a positive attitude and humor to every situation.

Working as a Lax Bro

The end goal for me professionally, is to get involved in sports marketing and contribute to the expansion of underrepresented segments. My experience in sports marketing comes from my current position as the marketing manager at RIT SportsZone. I am responsible for leading a team working towards increasing the reach of social media platforms, as well as promoting the image of SportsZone Live. SportsZone covers over 23 individual collegiate athletics team. My passion for sports marketing comes from the fact I am an athlete myself, as part of the RIT Women’s Lacrosse Team. Through all  of the broken bones, injuries and tears, I can with complete honesty, say it has been the best 3 years of my life so far. Being an athlete myself is what inspired me to pursue marketing in a sports related field. It is an area I feel passionate about and can relate the most to. Check out the links below to learn more about me and connect with me to start a conversation.

Update 4/1/17

I recently decided to take a leap of faith and get outside my comfort zone by participating in the Living Through Sport program. At the end of June, I will be traveling to London, England to work an international sporting event as well as networking with industry professionals. For someone who frequently introduces themselves as a homebody, this is a big step for me. A typical Friday night for me usually involves watching Netflix. I’ve never been outside of the country on my own, so I’m scared and excited at the same time. I have always wanted to go abroad, and this is the first time I have actively pursued that goal.

AndrewBraeley

My name is Andrew Braeley. I’m completing my 5th year at RIT and graduating in May of 2018 with a degree in marketing. I plan to take the education I’ve received and use it to start my own restaurant.

The food industry is one that I have been a part of for a decade. My hope is to make it a life long career.

I was born and raised outside of Boston, MA where I lived with my mother and three siblings. This is where I first discovered my love for the culinary world. My first job was in a nursing home working as a chef.

At present, I’m residing in Brighton, NY with my fiancee who shares my love of cooking. After graduation we plan to return to the Boston area and hope to start our own restaurant.
In my free time, I like to cook and create my own recipes. I add them to my expanding book of specialties. I also enjoy spending time with my family, playing piano and guitar, as well as composing my own music.

In the near future I hope to run my own business in the culinary world. I’m confident I’ll find happiness and success with my education in business and my years of experience acquired working in different aspects of the food industry.
Thank you for visiting my page and I hope you find some entertainment in following my on my journey to the top of the culinary food chain. Keep in touch with me and my family and hopefully you will soon be directed to the front doors of my very own restaurant. If you love food then I assure you my journey will be one that you want to follow. Please connect with me on any of my other pages!

Life As A RIT Student

Ever wonder what life is like as a RIT Tiger?

RITMemorialDrive

At RIT, life as a student can be pretty fun. Rochester Institute of Technology has a little over 18,000 students with plenty of classes, clubs, and events for everyone.

One of the coolest things at RIT is the diverse amount of wellness classes. As a student, you are required to complete two wellness classes of your choice. Many have loved the Outdoor Education classes where students can go Cross Country Skiing, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, etc. These classes ad some fun to your semester and you can always take more than two of these classes before you graduate! Check out the classes offered here!
During the winter season, if you aren’t a hockey fan, attending RIT will surely make you one! To show pride for the Tigers, some of the best events on campus are the hockey games! Be prepared to cheer on your Tigers in the student section with all of your fellow classmates!
When the cold winter days finally turn into the warm spring days, make sure you have time to hang out at Global Village. Global Village has a lot of nice shops and great food choices. One of the favorites on campus is Salsaritas, which is the go-to restaurant where students can sit outside when the weather is nice. Lets not forget about the bar that’s on RIT’s campus, which is perfect for that drink between classes or after finals!
These are just some of the advantages of being a Tiger! Life as a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology is never boring!
