My story so far

Born and brought up in the steel town of Jamshedpur, India, I moved to Mumbai after school to pursue my Bachelors in Economics from St. Xavier’s College. This was followed by a move to the United States to do a Masters in Human Resource Development from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008.

On completing my master’s degree, I returned to India and joined our family business as the Head of Human Resource. It was very challenging being the only woman working in a team of over 300 employees. Having gained a couple of years of work experience and observing my Dad as an entrepreneur, when opportunity presented itself, I went ahead and became an entrepreneur myself.

Designclature – A partnership venture

I launched Designclature, a mobile app development firm. It was a partnership where my partner was looking into the technical aspect and I was looking into the business aspect of the company.

Cake Inc. – Merging my love for baking and being an entrepreneur

Over time I discovered I had a passion for baking. When the partnership was dissolved, I moved to Bangalore to complete a course in baking science and pastry art. On completing the course .I launched Cake Inc., a boutique bakery dealing with made to order, customized desserts and cakes.

Returning to school

While I enjoyed being an entrepreneur and working in the food industry, I always felt the desire to study further. I eventually returned to Rochester Institute of Technology in August 2018. I am currently in the process of completing my MBA with a concentration in Digital Marketing. Coming back to school after a 8 year gap was very challenging. However, I have been enjoying every minute of it.

Leopard Solutions – A summer co-op

I spent the summer of 2019 working with a legal database company (Leopard Solutions) in New York City. They are a company known to provide a recruiting tool to the legal industry. One of the biggest projects I got to work on was rebranding their products as not just a recruiting tool but also a market intelligence tool for a legal industry. To achieve this, I had to redesign their website, re-work their content, SEO and metadata so they show up on the desired searches. While I completed the designing of the website and content, the new website is still to be launched.

Moving forward

Marketing is an area that has always fascinated me. Armed with a MBA degree in Digital Marketing along with my past work experience, I hope to make a career in the creative side of Marketing – Advertisement, Product Launch, Brand Awareness, Social Media and other Online Marketing to name a few.

Andrea Green-New Media Marketing

Hello, my name is Andrea Green! It’s not easy being green, let me tell you. People always think you know anything and everything about Kermit the Frog. When I’m not trying to live up to my family name, you can find me in one of Rochester’s many hipster coffee shops studying.

 I’m a third-year New Media Marketing undergraduate at Rochester Institute of Technology who recently transferred from Monroe Community College. I’ve lived in Rochester all my life and honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a local, I’ve taken advantage of the many opportunities Rochester can provide. 

This ranges from shadowing marketing professionals in companies like Xerox and EagleView, to being the Social Media Manager and Marketing Intern for Abbott’s Frozen Custard, and now working as a Marketing Coordinator for the Student Auxiliary Services at RIT. I’ve gained a plethora of knowledge about marketing like understanding social media marketing, content creation, website design, copy writing and much more. As a Marketing Coordinator, I’m currently learning even more about social media marketing and analytics. I’ll hopefully be going on a co-op this summer to gain even more experience as I continue my education.

In the future, I hope to obtain my MBA with a concentration in analytics. I want to advance my knowledge so that I can eventually help my dream company, Southwest, create successful data driven marketing campaigns.

Emma Riggi- New Media Marketing

I’m Emma Riggi and I am currently in my last semester at RIT majoring in New Media Marketing with a minor in Communication.  I started out as a Communication major with a Marketing minor and a couple of years into my time here at RIT decided Marketing was a better major for me.  I have always been intrigued by social media and advertising, which led me to New Media Marketing.

I grew up in a small town in New York by the name of LeRoy (Jello was invented there) and it is where I have lived my entire life.  I liked growing up in a small town surrounded by family and friends and it’s also where I started my first job working at the local library.  Now, I work on campus at the Note Scanning and Scheduling Offices.

Over the summer I interned as a Marketing Assistant at the Genesee Country Village & Museum in Mumford, New York.  I got to attend quite a few of the museum’s special events, which I worked on social media calendars and posting suggestions for.  At the events I was able to post live from their social media platforms. I also did some marketing research, created press releases and developed some customer experience surveys.  It was a great experience that allowed me to work in a lot of different aspects in marketing.

I still have a class and internship to finish up before I receive my diploma over the summer, but will be walking the stage and saying goodbye to RIT in May.  After graduation I hope to find a full-time job at a social media marketing agency.

Tyler Hatch – New Media Marketing & Sales

My name is Tyler Hatch and I am currently a fourth-year new media marketing student at Rochester Institute of Technology.

I have been a four-year member of the Men’s Varsity Soccer program at RIT and am looking to bring my natural competitive, ambitious, and hardworking personality to the sales industry after I graduate.  With thorough experience creating marketing/advertising campaigns, internet and social media marketing, and professional communications, I have a very strong technical marketing background. Along with my marketing experience, I was a two-year photography major at RIT, so I am great with a camera, and I am also very experienced using Adobe Photoshop.

I am interested in going into the sales industry because all my life I have been a natural salesman without realizing it.  I have always been an extremely outgoing, friendly and charismatic person who is a natural leader and is great at accomplishing both team goals and individual goals.  I know that with my personality, work ethic, and ability to make connections, I could have a very successful career in sales.  Looking in the far future, I would love to start up my own company that focuses on personal development and growth because that is something I have always been extremely passionate about and wouldn’t feel fulfilled without trying.

The sales industries I am currently interested in pursuing after college are Software Sales, Pharmaceutical Sales, Medical Device Sales, and Advertising Sales.  My goal is to find a company that I love working for surrounding me with great people who allow me to grow on a constant basis and create the life I’ve always dreamed of having.

Michele Judkins, New Media Marketing

Me, completely lost in the city of Venice and very happy about it…

Hey there, I’m Michele! Full disclosure, I always feel slightly awkward writing about myself so let’s go ahead and dive right in…

I began my academic journey pursuing a psychology degree at MCC, but quickly realized I had a knack for marketing, and have since turned psychology into an immersion. I started my New Media Marketing degree at RIT about a year ago and look forward to making these, “apply for graduation” emails into a reality this fall of 2019. I’ve impressed myself by remaining on Dean’s List with a massive credit load every semester and working close to full time. It’s all about surprising yourself with strengths you didn’t know you had.

The stars aligned during my second semester and I found myself completing my co-op requirement at a startup digital marketing company, created by none other than an RIT alumni. I’ve been learning from a founder that cares deeply for our clients and does not believe in delivering a sub-par product. She sets high standards for digital marketing and I feel grateful to be learning from a master of the craft, while simultaneously attending a highly regarded university–packing my brains with as much knowledge as possible!

I choose New Media Marketing for the opportunity to do a bit more micro writing and to explore the visually creative avenues built in, such as creating a stunning UI or engaging display ads. I love diving into Google Analytics to see what’s working and what needs improvement. In the age of instant gratification, we get to see the fruits of our labor quite fast–one small bonus for our distraction tortured generation.

Come graduation this Fall of 2019, I hope to have improved user experiences through my work, and to have discovered as many ways as possible to report competitive marketing gains to clients.

A heftier goal of mine is to do some lengthier writing one day, it would be an absolute dream to write a sci-fi series.
