Brooke Stoddart – Division I Student Athlete

Hello! My Name is Brooke Stoddart, I am currently in my fourth year majoring New Media Marketing with a minor is Exercise Science.

While attending school I also am a goaltender on the RIT Women’s Hockey Team. Being a student athlete at the Division I level has been a goal of mine since I was 8 years old, being able to live out that dream has been an experience I will never forget. As a student athlete one learns the of skill time manage very quickly, balancing being on the road, homework/studying when a 6-hour chunk out of your day is taken up on video session, workouts and practice is not an easy feat.

In the past our team has had some success winning back-to-back championships in the College Hockey America Conference. After our 2nd year in the conference and our first year of eligible our team advanced to the NCAA tournament making it to the Elite Eight, all of this accomplished in the first 5 years being granted Division I status. If you’d like to stay updated with the latest news regarding the team feel free to visit the RIT Women’s Hockey Page.

Balancing school, hockey and a social life has been interesting and an experience that I would not change for the world. It is helped me grow as a person and provided me with some life lesson that will be very beneficial in the future as I begin my new path in life.

I have been very fortunate to work for Key Mortgage Partners an extremely successful mortgage brokerage company where I was able to implement a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Working with this successful company allowed me to experience what a top company expects from its employees and the importance of their clientele. Therefore making a friendly but informational presence on social media was a must.

I have also been fortunate to have a summer co-op with the Barrie Colts Hockey Team who is apart of the Ontario Hockey League. This was also a great experience in a field that I loved, as I was able to work with a hockey team behind the scenes designing social media campaigns, developing special game night events, and creating content for social media. Being able to still be apart of a hockey team may it be from a different position allowed me use my passion for the game along with my knowledge from my degree really helped me thrive in this position.

Todd Skirving’s Student Athlete Profile

Hello Everyone,

RIT Men’s Hockey: Todd Skirving #17

My name is Todd Skirving and I would like to welcome you to my Search Engine and Marketing Analytics webpage through WordPress. I am a senior at the Rochester Institute of Technology  and this is my final capstone course left to take. In May 2017, I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in New Media Marketing. I will also graduate with a Bachelor of Science minor degree in Public Relations and Advertising. I currently play hockey for the RIT Men’s Hockey team. We have had some success over the past few years, winning back-to-back championships in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. You can keep up to date with all the latest news and updates on the RIT Hockey page and you can also view my Player Profile there as well. As I close in on my final few months at RIT, I am looking forward to what my future holds. RIT has prepared me both mentally and physically for the real world and I cannot wait to get started.

Upon graduation, I plan to continue my hockey career at the pro level wherever that may be. I believe that I will get myself into coaching before I use the degree that RIT has provided for me. Hockey is my life needless to say, so when the time comes for me to hang up the skates, I would love to still be involved with hockey, whether that is coaching younger kids or players at the junior and pro level. It would be a great way to give back after all those who gave to me during my hockey career.

Speaking of giving back, this year I teamed up with Muddy’s Buddies. They are a non-profitable organization in Rochester, NY that seeks to improve the quality of life of children and their families who have been touched by cancer or other chronic diseases. RIT Sports Zone did a great piece on them early in the year so be sure to check it out.

I encourage everyone to visit the several links provided throughout the post and to connect with me on a few different social media platforms. It will be a great way to connect and stay in touch. It will also be beneficial for any possible job opportunities or references in the future. Thank you for checking out my page.
