Star Wars Land Announced for Disney World & Disneyland!
The above link is a lengthy blog post particularizing the details of a newly-announced Star Wars “land” to be built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. Disney is no doubt absolutely capitalizing on every aspect of the brand since their purchase of Lucasfilm back in 2012; and with the momentous success of the latest film in the franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we can except to see a persistent presence of the films in the parks. Few concrete details were given about the expansion to the theme parks, but they are certainly ambitious as the new Star Wars Land is planed to span 14 acres across both parks. An attraction where guests can board and fly in the infamous Millennium Falcon was announced, as well as another ride where guests are put in the middle of an intense clash between the First Order and the Resistance, factions from the newly-released Force Awakens, and no doubt witness countless X-wings and TIE fighters in battle. Disney already has seasonal Star Wars attractions in its park, like the new Star Wars Launch Bay where guests can meet and greet characters form the films like Darth Vader, Kylo Ren and Chewbacca; also, the semi-annual Star Wars Weekends event has proven to be immensely popular with fans and patrons since its inception in 1997; the new land will do doubt continue this tradition as well and immerse guests even further into the lore of the films.
