Hey there, I’m Michele! Full disclosure, I always feel slightly awkward writing about myself so let’s go ahead and dive right in…
I began my academic journey pursuing a psychology degree at MCC, but quickly realized I had a knack for marketing, and have since turned psychology into an immersion. I started my New Media Marketing degree at RIT about a year ago and look forward to making these, “apply for graduation” emails into a reality this fall of 2019. I’ve impressed myself by remaining on Dean’s List with a massive credit load every semester and working close to full time. It’s all about surprising yourself with strengths you didn’t know you had.
The stars aligned during my second semester and I found myself completing my co-op requirement at a startup digital marketing company, created by none other than an RIT alumni. I’ve been learning from a founder that cares deeply for our clients and does not believe in delivering a sub-par product. She sets high standards for digital marketing and I feel grateful to be learning from a master of the craft, while simultaneously attending a highly regarded university–packing my brains with as much knowledge as possible!
I choose New Media Marketing for the opportunity to do a bit more micro writing and to explore the visually creative avenues built in, such as creating a stunning UI or engaging display ads. I love diving into Google Analytics to see what’s working and what needs improvement. In the age of instant gratification, we get to see the fruits of our labor quite fast–one small bonus for our distraction tortured generation.
Come graduation this Fall of 2019, I hope to have improved user experiences through my work, and to have discovered as many ways as possible to report competitive marketing gains to clients.
A heftier goal of mine is to do some lengthier writing one day, it would be an absolute dream to write a sci-fi series.
That’s about all, folks! Most of my work experience is for you to find out on your own. If interested, check out my Resume and LinkedIn.
ABOUT ME Hi Everyone, my name is Chance Wright. I am a Digital Marketing Concentration MBA Graduate student at RIT graduating in May 2019. I did my Undergraduate degree which is a BFA in Advertising Photography at RIT as well. I am originally from a small town called BigHorn, Wyoming. I lived there until high school where I left for a boarding school in New Hampshire called Holderness School. During this time I also moved to Northern Virginia. At Holderness, I found RIT and came for the photography program, and I have been here ever since. In conjunction to school, I am also the Vice President and Co-Founder of a Non-Profit called The Shore Foundation. I have an active photography business, specializing in landscape, architecture, and nature photography. I started my own company, ATL/WYO Productions, which is a film and television production company, which I plan to run after graduation in LA. Lastly, I am a New York State firefighter in the town of Chili, NY.
THE SHORE FOUNDATION We are a certified 501(c)(3) Non-Profit in New York State. Our mission is to provide computers into the hands of those in need. Founded between myself and my roommates in the Spring of 2018, we have successfully given away ~20 computers to high school age students who were unable to purchase them themselves. We plan to attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most computers donated in 24 hours, with a mass donation event where we will give away somewhere around 500 computers. I encourage you to visit our website and learn more about the cause, as well as ways in which you can help.
MY HOBBIES In my little free time that I do get, I do have a few hobbies which I love to do. I am a recreational skydiver and speed flyer. I skydive out west of Rochester near a town called Barre, NY. Speedflying, which is similar to paragliding is practiced in mountainous areas with steep slopes and little trees. – Professional Speedflying Video example.
My name is Eva Skovli, and I am currently an international graduate student at Rochester Institute of Technology, coming all way from Norway. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Creativity, Innovation and Business Development. Currently, I am studying marketing and communications, graduating May 2019 with a master of science degree. My goal is to work with digital marketing, social media, and content creation. I am also planning to take a certificate in Digital Marketing.
Outside the classroom I also run a lifestyle blog writing about college, green living, productivity hacks accessibility, and products I love. Here is a favorite blog post I wrote, “10 best apps for deaf and hard of hearing people”. I also speak four different languages, and I love drinking coffee as much as I love learning new things and to solve problems. I am also always updated on the latest technology and social media. Accessibility is a big passion of mine, always try to look for different ways to bridge communication between the deaf and hearing world through technology.
I was initially attracted to the field of entrepreneurship, marketing, and communications because I find it to be very dynamic and creativity based. I was first exposed to the marketing when I started up an online-novelty store called Kipekee with a friend, a store with unique practical and well-designed products and gifts for the home. Here is an interview where I share my journey. We sold Kipekee in 2013 because we were ready for new challenges.
In the future, I want to do so many things, but I aim to work with digital marketing, social media, and content creation. I also want to become a social entrepreneur, working with various projects benefitting local communities and the world. 😃
My name is Alexander Yu Huang. I am a SOIS student at Rochester Institute of Technology studying to become a Full Stack developer. SOIS, or School of Individualized Studies, is a program where students can create a degree that is personalized to their needs and interests. It is an excellent program for students who feel dissatisfied with the courses taken in other degrees. However, students must provide a valid reasoning behind the courses chosen to receive this degree.
Full Stack Developer
For my SOIS degree I have a focus on Computer Science and on Information Sciences and Technology with a minor in Marketing. The courses I take in both these areas will allow me to pursue my career as a Full Stack developer. A Full Stack developer is known as the “jack of all trades, master of none” in the computer world. They have knowledge in both the front-end and back-end of a program or website. Although they don’t specialize in anything, they are the most proficient in connecting both sides together. This is due to being able to understand the whole program or website on a macro level. I want to be a Full Stack developer because I enjoy “seeing the big picture.” I like to see everything work together but not necessarily how each individual component works by itself in detail.
I mentioned that I have a minor in Marketing. Although marketing is not something people normally think of when it comes to being a Full Stack developer, I feel that marketing is helpful for this career. SEO is a very important aspect when it comes to designing a website. It dictates how well your website is doing and whether or not there may be improvements to make. By knowing about marketing beforehand I am able to design a website with SEO in mind and bring about satisfactory results.

My name is Yasmani Aguiar and I come from paradise in the Caribbean; that’s right, I was born in Cuba and have been fortunate to visit my home land four times now. If you ever have questions about my journey and experiences there, don’t hesitate to ask. Also, I’m the Student Senator for our lovely Saunders College of Business. I’m majoring in finance with minors in marketing and economics. My hobbies include exercising, skateboarding when it’s warm out, cooking and exploring different states/countries. I aspire to lead a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. In conclusion, I enjoy trying new things in all aspects of life so I may experience as much as I can while I can and to establish an awesome lifestyle for the future.
As a Finance student, I’m looking towards applying my skills, experience and knowledge towards a non-traditional finance role. Furthermore, I’ve been looking at business development jobs, financial advising and rotational leadership programs in reputable companies in the U.S. I’m also open to relocating anywhere and working abroad for some time; as the title implies, I want to experience life’s journey since I only have one life to do so. Additionally, my interests in photography, health and wellness and traveling will be somehow combined in the future as side projects or a business.
Furthermore, self-learning is something I enjoy and will continue to partake in . My goal is to learn more about health and wellness with the possibility of transitioning to that sector full-time and opening my own health-related business in the future. My main goal throughout my career(s) is to look forward to going to work every morning I wake up and enjoying what I do.
I’m a 4th Year New Media Marketing student at the Rochester Institute of Technology with minors in Finance and Communication. I will be graduating in December 2018 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
I am originally from Massena, New York, a small town neighboring the Canadian border. I now consider Rochester my home after moving here in the summer of 2014. I’ve always thought it was wiser to move away from home and realize you want to move back, rather than to never leave at all. Outside the classroom, I am the president and co-captain of the RIT Roller Hockey club. I have been also a brother of a Business Fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, since freshman year. Throughout my years at RIT I have met some incredible people, been introduced to many new ideas, and grown into an aspiring business professional. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in college, I am becoming increasingly eager to see what opportunities lie ahead in the next chapter of my life.
When I first entered college, I had predominantly no idea what I wanted to accomplish in life. I now envision myself working in an environment where I will have the opportunity to surround myself with like-minded individuals to collaboratively get things done. I am still unsure which route I will take to get me there. As a result, I am exploring any and all opportunities that come my way. Since, I have found a passion for marketing and sales. I love the person to person interactions that the two fields have to offer. I believe that building legitimate relationships with others is a key component of success in every facet of life. Eventually, I’d like to end up in the sports industry.
I am looking to expand my professional network. So please take the time to connect with me on LinkedIn and check out my resume. I have provided links to both below. If nothing else, do me a huge favor and simply click on each of the links below. It will help me a great deal with my Search Engine Marketing Analytics class.
My name is Eboni, I study New Media Marketing and I love art! There is art in the way a wave crashes on
the sand or the way a meal is presented at a restaurant. You can say I’ve dedicated my life to the arts. I have bungee jumped in Mexico, jet skied in Aruba, and even cooked paella in Spain. I’ve been savvy with paint brushes and pencils for as long as I can remember. I consider myself to be very free spirited and open minded. So, when it came to picking a career for myself the choice was obvious! I was going to study… new media marketing.
Confused? Well let me explain. I believe marketing is a form of art. Anything that requires a level of creativity and innovation is art. Media Marketing done right has the ability to tap into people’s emotions, twist the way they think and move millions towards a common goal. If that’s not an art form I don’t know what is. Have you ever seen a n add the made you smile or a commercial that brought you dangerously close to tears? Well that is art… and art has always been a huge part of my life and by studying marketing I know it always will be.
I was able to apply the skill sets I learned into my work experience and have had huge impact on not only the company but the world! If you want to learn more about me and how I am doing my part to change the marketing world check out the links below!
Hello! My name is Sooa Chung. I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to America at age of 14. Currently, I am a 4th-year Industrial Design student with a minor in Marketing and immersion in Advertising and Public Relations at Rochester Institute of Technology. I would like to call myself a world traveler, although I have not been or never will be able to visit all the countries around the globe. However, it is one of my dreams to travel all the places that are on my bucket list, and the next ideal destination would be Spain.
What is Industrial Design?
Many people have asked me what industrial design is, surprisingly, even at career fairs. So here it is: Industrial design is a discipline known for creating products and systems that optimize function, value, and appearance. It has thrived in recent years—as the value of industrial design in cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation efforts is recognized.
Aside from industrial design, I am passionate about learning other fields of design outside of my major, such as UI/UX, graphic, furniture, packaging design to broaden up the spectrum of my knowledge in design. As I have a minor in marketing, I foresee to integrate marketing methodology into a design to enhance the understanding of users interacting with the product from the beginning. Through my work experience in the professional industry, I have proven my organizational skills and design communication skills as well as improving team working skills. I am always open to learn and take advantage of every situation that I am thrown into and make the best out of it.
My name is Abigail Woodward. I’m at 4th year New Media Marketing Student. I’m currently a social media coordinator for auxiliary services for RIT.
I was born and raised in Rochester.
Which means two things:
1) I’ve had a garbage plate
2) I can drive in the snow.
I started my college career at Monroe Community College with an Associates in Business Administration. During that time at MCC my father was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. During that time, I wasn’t able to do a lot of extracurriculars during that time. I would split my time between my dying father, two part-time jobs, and school full time. From MCC I transferred to RIT, my dream school, and continued to make my father proud. He tried to hang on so he could see me graduate but, passed away March of ’17. Since then, I’ve been able to take time for myself to help re-fall in love with RIT and Rochester.
In New Media Marketing, you have to be flexible and learn as much as possible so during my co-ops.
In the summer of ’17 I was able to start as a social media intern for RIT’s business incubator, Venture Creations. It was a wonderful experience, I learned how to run a professional social media account and see development of businesses first hand. Also, I strengthened my Photoshop skills as well as using Newsletter software.
For Fall ’17 I was the retail marketing intern for Barnes & Noble @ RIT. At Venture Creations, we had start-ups from different areas, so focusing on one building such as Barnes & Noble @ RIT was a nice change of pace. At Barnes & Noble I worked on their social media as well as content creation and event planning.
What I’m Doing Now
Currently, I work with a great team of people at RIT’s Student Auxiliary Services. I help coordinate their social media accounts and help during events.
So In All I’ve Helped Run:

My name is Eric Carlo and I am a 4th year New Media Marketing student at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I also have a minor in Advertising and Public Relations.
I am also a brother of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi. In my chapter I have held the positions of Chancellor, Webmaster, and Vice President of Professional Activities. In the summer of 2017 I studied abroad at one of RIT’s global campuses in Zagreb, Croatia While there I studied psychology. Throughout my time in Europe I have also gone to Vienna,Austria and Munich, Germany.Studying abroad was a phenomenal experience that I am very fortunate to have had. I believe the world is a lot smaller place than people think it is and people should see more of our home that is Earth.
Throughout my time at RIT I have held several jobs on campus. These include: being a student caller for the office of Alumni Relations and also worked in Gracie’s dining hall on campus.
In the fall semester of 2017 I was a marketing intern at a small MSP in Fairport, NY called iV4,Inc. While at iV4 I was exposed to SEO best practices to implement in website design. I was also responsible for content creation for their blog, and promoting content through social media marketing. I was also responsible for updating and maintaining contact information in Hubspot CRM.
Currently I am the Marketing Administrator for Cycle Stop, Inc. in Rochester, NY. As the Marketing Administrator I am responsible for creating content strategies for our Facebook and other social media site, email marketing, and in store marketing.
Christian Vanderhoef is a fourth year New Media Marketing and Economics double major at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) – Saunders College of Business & College of Liberal Arts. He believes that dreams and passions should be attainable by good people, and has a passion for helping individuals grow in order to reach those dreams using his knowledge of marketing and economics, soft skills, and creative thinking. Ultimately, people are the most important aspect of an organization, for without them, everything would be nothing.
Please, feel free to connect with Christian online because he loves meeting people, discussing topics, and learning new things.
Christian was born and raised in Farmingville, New York which is on Long Island. He has always been one to experience new things and explore his interests. From a young age, Christian participated in gymnastics, baseball, and basketball, but he always had a place for arts and crafts. When it came to his fifth grade yearbook, he wrote that he’d love to be a cartoonist when he grew up because he could create anything and shape an entire world of his own. He also learned at the end of elementary school that he had a knack for singing and wanted to pursue it further in middle school.
Although he was intending to focus more on music, Christian also played football leading into middle school, however, he didn’t enjoy it as much as he thought he might and left. When school started, Christian did what he intended to do and pursued singing throughout middle school. He joined choir and the school drama club. In his first year, Christian managed to get a solo in the show. As everyone may realize, middle school is a weird place and Christian’s “social circle” began to be established. By the end of middle school, his voice was going through a quick change and his singing was affected. He had a solo for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), but did so poorly due to frequent register changes that he was never given a score. In high school, Christian had no interest in further pursuing music.
In high school, he participated in FIRST Robotics for his freshman and sophomore year, but he realized that the organization at his school had politics that he was not interested in. He quit, got a crazy haircut, changed his style and joined track. In junior year, he was in cross country, swimming, track, student government, chess club, model united nations, and strategy and tactics club. He began to hangout less with the same people and more with new people. This allowed him to gather many social perspectives and relate more to many people. When he was meeting many new people, he came to the realization he wanted to be an engineer. To be more exact, he wanted to be an aviation and aerospace mechanical engineer. He then questioned this idea his senior year when his interest in arts and music reemerged.
When Christian got to RIT, he was already contemplating his major as Engineering Exploration, but he was uncertain as to what he’ll change to. After his first semester of exploring, he switched to Marketing. He learned so much about business that he was unaware of before and it interested him. He loved strategies, business plans, economics, and even accounting interested him. Overtime, he came to the conclusion he wanted to switch to New Media Marketing. Then, since the curriculum taught very little about resources and pricing, he chose to double major in Economics. With those, he can gather a deep understanding of resources and people while he works on his start-up: Canopy.

I’m a graduating New Media Marketing Major with an immersion in Music. I’ve loved my time at RIT and the fact that I am leaving is bittersweet. I’ve gained so many great skills here in my classes. Through those classes and my co-op experience I have transformed myself from a lazy freshman to a motivated candidate for the job market. In my final semester at RIT, I am especially excited to learn more about SEO during this class.
In January 2016 I landed an exciting co-op opportunity with Eastman Kodak Company here in Rochester. What started as a summer job turned into a 2-year long relationship in which I worked both full-time, and part-time while taking classes. My classes somewhat prepared me for the job, but I feel that I learned even more about marketing and simply working in a marketing position while I was there.
More recently and currently, I am a contracted WordPress developer for the local Rochester non-profit, Be UninTIMidated. Be UninTIMidated is dedicated to helping people with rare forms of appendix cancer, and raising awareness to gain ground for treatment.
More About Me & Links
Though currently based in Rochester, my home is in Burlington, Vermont, where I was born. Being from Vermont I love snowboarding, hiking, and rock climbing, among other outdoor activities. I played in the Vermont Youth Orchestra for 5 years, which helped grow my love for music. I love to write and produce music, and I have grown these skills through some courses at RIT such as Electronic Music Production. I had the pleasure of helping write and record music with a fellow RIT student for his video game, Apollon Blue. A few select pieces from the game can be listened to at the link below.
Apollon Jazz – My first try at making jazz music. I was very proud with the result and this ended up being the theme for the game.
My name is Lisa Hornak and I am originally from Houston, PA. Currently, I am a third-year student at Rochester Institute of Technology. I chose to major in Marketing with a Supply Chain Management minor. Finally, I am a member of the Women’s Rugby team at RIT and the DECA club at RIT.
In the future, I plan to work in the sports marketing or marketing analytics industry. Even though I prefer to stay in the Rochester area, which I now consider it to be home, I am always up for an adventure when a good opportunity opens up.
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
If you can’t run, walk, or crawl then I guess you end up crutching like me. Right now I am on crutches for the next 6+ weeks with a cracked fibula. Being on crutches has definitely been an eye-opening experience in snowy Rochester to the accessibility challenges of going to a large university.
As my journey through college is starting to near the end, I am currently searching for a marketing co-op for this summer. By filling out hundreds of applications and obsessively checking various job sites the past few months I learned a lot. Therefore, I am more cognizant of what jobs are out there and how my interests match up.

Four x-rays later, I am off crutches and in an air cast. Now, I will wear the “walking boot” another month followed by physical therapy. I am looking forward to when I can return to my active lifestyle and getting back into my gym routine.
I’m Reed Austin an entrepreneur and a senior New Media Marketing student at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I started my educational journey in college as a computer engineer because I took five years of pre-engineering classes in my middle school to high school years. I fell in love with the problem-solving aspect early on in my pursuits to be an engineer.
Unfortunately, as time went on I found myself unhappy because I wasn’t being creatively fulfilled. I had a hobby of creating videos online since I was fourteen years old. Over the years I became more popular and realized my true passions lied within content creation.
I jumped from five different disciplines of engineering to economics and criminal justice and finally settled in new media marketing. It took some time, but I made the connection of using all these interests to create a business of my own that satisfied my passions and paid the bills.
But honestly the entire class just wants to see who can get the most clicks and from where around the world. Yah competitions!
My name is Hannah Tillson and I’m currently finishing my senior year studying New Media Marketing at Rochester Institute of Technology. During my time studying Internet Marketing and advertising in college, I discovered a love and passion for graphic design. Outside of class, I run a small Etsy store, HTPlanning, love to try cooking new recipes, workout and am the director of philanthropy for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha.
Hannah Tillson Planning
I’ve always been a (fairly) organized person and have loved using my planner, and about a year and a half ago I turned my hobbies of graphic design and planning into a small business! I design printable planner stickers for college students and am very proud to have almost 5,000 sales in the year and a half that my store has been open. This hobby of mine has taught me so much about Adobe products, social media marketing, engaging customers, and expense tracking.

From a small town in Ontario, Canada named Forest, Kysa Willemsen is in her fourth year at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is studying new media marketing with a minor in advertising and public relations. She will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in May of 2018.
Life as a Student Athlete
During Kysa’s first semester at RIT she decided to try a new sport. That is when she became a member of the RIT crew team. Since joining she has been a rower and coxswain for both the women’s and men’s teams. Practices at 6AM each morning have helped her stay on top of her studies. Even finding ways to prioritize time management when she is travelling for races. Balancing school, sports, work and a social life has proven to be difficult but she wouldn’t want to change this experience for the world. Overall, being a student athlete has taught Kysa control, motivation and flexibility.
In the spring of her third year at RIT Kysa studied in London, England at the London South Bank University. She embraced opportunities to travel and learn from cultures all around Europe. Her favourite was to enjoy locations that were off the beaten path rather than tourist-targeted locations. Unlike the American school system, academics in England were set up differently. Each course was weighted mostly on one exam or paper therefore it highlighted the fact that second-chances aren’t always available.
In the “Real World”
Since 2014 Kysa has gained experience with Sunripe Freshmarket. She helped introduce social media and online communications into the company’s marketing. In December of 2014 she ran the company’s first online promotion. This was for a buy 1 get 1 free event they hold yearly. This event was only advertised with traditional marketing platforms prior to that year. During the event that December Sunripe saw a large increase in year over year sales at a fraction of their previous marketing costs. Today, Kysa continues to manage all of Sunripe’s online communications through Facebook, Instagram, website and email. This includes promoting products and events, answering consumer questions, creating content and more. All from anywhere in the world.
Hi there! Looks you don’t know who I am. Great opportunity to introduce myself! My name is Megan Freeman and I am not related to Morgan Freeman! I am currently a fourth year student at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) studying Management Information Systems (MIS) with a minor in Digital Business and an immersion in Legal Studies. I’m from Missoula, Montana. About three days of a drive! It’s a long ways! I will be graduating in Spring 2018! So exciting!
Considering the fact I’m from the west, I love to hike, mountain bike, snowboard, horseback riding, and swimming. I’m a very outdoorsy person but I also like to play board and video games with friends. I haven’t explored enough of Rochester to find the best places for outdoor activities. The most favorite that I have been to is Letchworth Park.
I am involved with the Tri Sigma Sorority, RIT Equestrian Team, and Women in Business Club. For the Equestrian Team, I am the Western Team Captain for just about three and a half years now. Competitions I do are both in Western and English in NY and I will be going to regionals this year! I am also involved in many philanthropy events for Tri Sigma like Sign Idol and Relay for Life.
The concept of working with computers in the business aspect is what drew me to the major. The major offered several coding classes that I was really interested in taking like HTML, CSS, C#, Visual Studios. Computers are my thing! With this knowledge from learning in the MIS field, I hope to become a CEO or CMO of an well-known company or agency. If that doesn’t work out, I might try out for Law School and become a lawyer like my parents! Either way works!
That’s all I have for now! Check out my resume, Facebook, Linkedin pages so that I can pass and graduate on time! Also, please feel free to comment below with any questions or suggestions!
Hello! Hanna Hawkins is my name and I’m currently a fourth year New Media Marketing Major at the Rochester Institute of Technology, who is double minoring in Media Arts and Technology and Advertising and Public Relations. My graduation date is December 2018! I primarily chose RIT because of the diversity in culture and people of who attend RIT. I chose my major because of rhe great co-op program and its unique aspects.
Throughout my R.I.T. career I’ve participated in various amounts of clubs or activities. One that stuck and became a major part of my life was ZTA. Zeta has helped me strengthen my communication skills and expand my outlook on situations! I currently work 2 part-time jobs. I work as a banquet server at the Double Tree by Hilton while also being the student social media manager for the RIT Office of Career Services and Co-op! At the office I assist in managing various social media accounts, help increase engagement in different demographics, I aid in facilitating events and creating and planning content. Since I do work alot and am a full time student I really value being in my sorority. It has not only allowed me to grow into the person I am today but shown the person I can be, a strong, outgoing, driven individual who will be as successful as she wants to be.
Social media is something that I’ve grown up with and become very passionate about. I am planning on going into a career that includes content planner or creating but, I’m always looking to learn something new. I look forward to working in a company that’ll allow me to learn and grow with their company. When I graduate this December I hope to find a full-time position somewhere warm. I’m looking primarily at North Carolina and California. I like North Carolina because my sister, whom I am very close with, currently lives there. I’ve also heard Charlotte, North Carolina is a new and upcoming area for social media marketing and startups. California has always been a dream of mine! Calfifornia has always been known for dreams coming true, therefore there are quite a few startups in the area! I’ve always thought about the idea of working with a startup becuase it allows the employees to grow with the companies!
