Hey there, I’m Michele! Full disclosure, I always feel slightly awkward writing about myself so let’s go ahead and dive right in…
I began my academic journey pursuing a psychology degree at MCC, but quickly realized I had a knack for marketing, and have since turned psychology into an immersion. I started my New Media Marketing degree at RIT about a year ago and look forward to making these, “apply for graduation” emails into a reality this fall of 2019. I’ve impressed myself by remaining on Dean’s List with a massive credit load every semester and working close to full time. It’s all about surprising yourself with strengths you didn’t know you had.
The stars aligned during my second semester and I found myself completing my co-op requirement at a startup digital marketing company, created by none other than an RIT alumni. I’ve been learning from a founder that cares deeply for our clients and does not believe in delivering a sub-par product. She sets high standards for digital marketing and I feel grateful to be learning from a master of the craft, while simultaneously attending a highly regarded university–packing my brains with as much knowledge as possible!
I choose New Media Marketing for the opportunity to do a bit more micro writing and to explore the visually creative avenues built in, such as creating a stunning UI or engaging display ads. I love diving into Google Analytics to see what’s working and what needs improvement. In the age of instant gratification, we get to see the fruits of our labor quite fast–one small bonus for our distraction tortured generation.
Come graduation this Fall of 2019, I hope to have improved user experiences through my work, and to have discovered as many ways as possible to report competitive marketing gains to clients.
A heftier goal of mine is to do some lengthier writing one day, it would be an absolute dream to write a sci-fi series.
