Spring is Here, Time to Run
Now that the temperature has finally started to climb out of the frigid zone, people are starting to come out of their caves and hang out outside. This is when many people decide to go for a run. Running is a great cardiovascular exercise that helps build endurance and has the potential to burn a lot of calories. However, it can be extremely tedious and a nightmare for those who aren’t avid joggers. However, here are some tips to make your jog a little easier.
Tips for a Better Run
Make a playlist of mid to fast tempo music and put it on shuffle. If the music is constant, your run tempo and stopping point will usually be the same. If the music changes, so will your tempo and the length of the run.
Push past your stopping point. Pick a point that is generally a stopping point for you and attempt to run farther by a small amount of time. Continuing to do this will help to increase your overall run mileage faster.
Run up hills. Challenge yourself on your run. Hills use different muscle groups in your legs than when you run on a flat plane. This will also increase the difficulty and give you a better workout.
Go slow as you start and run in the morning. You’re the freshest in the morning and without the trials of the day on your shoulders. Start your job slow and try to keep a strong pace that increases after you warm up.
Stay strong. Keep in your mind the reason you started running. Not only is it great for your health, but running can be fun once you get better at it. Now go for a run!
